GIRO DONNE: Vitillo and Vettorello on the run in the third stage
The third stage of the Giro d’Italia Donne (2.WWT), 118.2 km from Formigine (MO) to Modena, gave great satisfaction to our team, with the escapes of Matilde Vitillo and Giorgia Vettorello and the top placing. ten thanks by Silvia Zanardi.
The first daring of the day of BePink – GOLD was Vitillo. The Piedmontese born in 2001 escaped in the company of another athlete shortly after the start, animating a sortie that became a four-man race that continued for about forty kilometers and up to the climb towards the Villabianca Mountain Grand Prix.
Vettorello then launched the attack, leaving the group at km 66 together with two other athletes, who were picked up 10 kilometers from the finish line.
What decided the fate of stage number three was a massive sprint that saw Silvia Zanardi conquer tenth position and another good result in the current season.
Tomorrow the fourth stage – the longest of the 2023 edition with its 134.1 km – will take the caravan from Fidenza (PR) to Borgo Val di Taro (PR).
