A 2021 to remember

BePink’s 2021 ends with a more than positive balance sheet and with great satisfaction gained in the many competitions faced both in Italy and abroad. It was an exciting season which allowed our team to celebrate eleven victories, between road and track, and many good results.

To embellish the season came the four gold medals mortgaged by Silvia Zanardi at the Under23 European Championships (the beautiful one in the road race in Trento and the hat-trick on the Dutch parquet in Apeldoorn) and Nora’s Slovakian national time trial champion’s jersey Jenčušová.

In the final stages of the year, BePink, in addition to preparing for the competitive challenges that await the girls in 2022, was able to rejoice in Zanardi’s excellent performances in Grenchen, at the Track Cycling Challenge (an international UCI CL. C1 competition held last week -end at the Swiss Tissot Velodrome), where he achieved second position in the Elimination, coming within a whisker of victory, and fourth in the Omnium. Excellent news also arrived from across the pond and from New Zealand: Drummond took the silver medal around her neck in the Madison at the New Zealand Track Championships, also placing fifth in the Omnium.

Zanardi and Valentina Basilico (new entry for 2022 and European Junior Champion in Scratch) had the privilege of being among the protagonist athletes of the Giro d’Onore, the celebration of the Italian Cycling Federation held in Rome in the splendid location of Spazio 900 which, after the forced stop due to the health emergency, it returned to celebrate the two-wheel champions, as well as all those who knew how – and know how – to enhance this sport both from a sporting and human point of view.

The new squad, as announced, is currently made up of Silvia Zanardi, Nadia Quagliotto, Michaela Drummond (NZL), Markéta Hájková (CZE), Matilde Vitillo, Prisca Savi, Lara Crestanello, Nora Jenčušová (SVK) as well as the new entries Letizia Brufani, Giorgia Dioguardi, Valentina Basilico, Elizabeta Escursell Valero (ESP) and Jade Teolis (FRA).
