Good results for BePink-Bongioanni at La Vuelta Femenina by carrefour.es
Trinca Colonel shone on the climbs; the team also highlighted thanks to the many breakaways
BePink-Bongioanni closed the Vuelta Femenina by Carrefour.es (2.WWT) with a more than positive outcome.
In the first Grand Tour of the season, held from 28 April to 5 May, the Lombard team managed to collect good “spoils” in terms of results thanks to the excellent work of the entire selection lined up at the start and in particular Monica Trinca Colonel.
The twenty-four year old from Grosotto (SO), making her debut in this race, proved to be very brilliant in the most challenging sections (altimetrically speaking) and an excellent interpreter of the climbs faced in the 2024 edition.
Fourteenth at the finish line in Alto del Fuerte Rapitán (Jaca), the finishing point of the 5th stage starting from Huesca, Trinca Colonel repeated herself in the top-20 in La Laguna Negra, the iconic upward finale of the Vuelta where she classified eighteenth and signed his small personal masterpiece in the “queen fraction” (the eighth and last) which, from the Distrito Telefónica in Madrid, landed in Valdesquí.
With the best of the group already on the first climb of the day off (the demanding Puerto de la Morcuera), she pedaled in the vanguard positions also on the ramps towards the white line at 1860 meters above sea level. of the ski area located in the Comunidad de Madrid, then crossing the white line in twelfth place and moving up thirteen positions in the general ranking.
In the Iberian challenge, BePink-Bongioanni also stood out thanks to the breakaways of Angela Oro, in advance for about seventy km in the 2nd stage and, doubly so, in the seventh (the San Esteban de Gormaz – Sigüenza), where Andrea Casagranda, Nora Jenčušová and Ana Vitória “Tota” Magalhães also tried to play the long-range attack card.
“My first Vuelta Femenina, and especially my first Grand Tour, was a super positive experience.” Monica Trinca Colonel said. “I’m satisfied with what I achieved. I went away aware that I could do well, but also with the question mark about how my body would react to eight days of competition, because it would be the first time and, among other things, I had just come out of a period of flu. I loved the mountain stages because that is my bread, while I suffered a lot the stages with the strong wind and fans. But it’s all an experience! Team Manager Walter Zini, but also to all the staff who were super helpful and on point! And thanks to my teammates, always ready to help me!”
“We are very satisfied with how this Vuelta went and happy for the great satisfaction we achieved,” added Team Manager Walter Zini. “Apart from Andrea, Nora and Tota, the others had never tackled this race; the objective was precisely to allow the girls to gain experience and measure themselves against a challenge of the highest level and I would say that it was not only achieved, but exceeded! All of them they gave their all and worked hard every single day. Monica was truly super! Results of this level, a few months after her debut in the group with the professionals, are truly noteworthy. But Angela, Tota, Nora and Andrea were also very good , who showed courage by launching into the breakaway, Beatrice Pozzobon, who finished on the rise and Selene Colombi, who was forced to withdraw due to the after-effects of the fall suffered in the third stage, but really fought tooth and nail
